eco cup

The kitchen is one area where we consume lots of energy. Cooking, washing, cleaning and even making a cup of tea are all tasks that require energy which not only costs us money but also contribute to our carbon footprints. eco cup

And as the tasks we do in the kitchen are daily and regular occurrences, saving energy in these areas will make a real difference to both the environment and our pockets. Now, there are plenty of eco kitchen gadgets to help us save a bot of energy every time we put the kettle on or start the dinner.

As a nation, tea drinking is a huge pastime. Every night, during the advertisements on the popular soap operas, the nations energy consumption increases markedly as millions of people dash to the kitchen to put the kettle on.

On average kitchen kettle is boiled four times every evening and by saving energy each time we do so the cumulative savings across the country could be huge.

Eco Kettles use less power than regular kettles and there are a whole host of them on the market. In choosing one you need to consider the type of kettle you need which often reflects the amount of tea and coffee you drink. If you live alone and enjoy just the odd cuppa, a one cup or quick cup kettle may be the solution. These are not only energy efficient as they boil just enough water for one cup, they also do so in seconds, so there is no need to miss the start of the programme because you are waiting for the kettle to boil.

For families and those that like more than the odd cup of tea of coffee other eco kettles are available that use different methods to save energy. With some, you can pre-select the exact amount of water the kettle should boil and it sores the rest in a separate reservoir, whilst others use clever heating techniques to reduce boiling time and save energy.

Eco kettles also switch off as soon as they boil rather than over-boiling unnecessarily for a few seconds.
